Our volunteers, called Gatekeepers, help make Divine Unity Community Church feel like home. Serving is one of the primary ways we grow, connect, and build God’s Kingdom together. Whether you’re behind the scenes or on the front lines, every act of service helps shape the atmosphere of our church and the experience of those who walk through our doors.
Background: In the times of the Bible, most major cities were protected by walls that kept them from foreign invaders. (1 Chronicles 9:22)
Gates were built into these walls to allow traffic and commerce to enter and leave the city.
As a result, city gates became primary targets of attack because if you won the gate, you won the city.
Gatekeepers were frontline soldiers who protected the gate and the city from all threats.
Gatekeepers, also, protected God’s temple, maintained order, and served as priests in temple rituals.
They honored God by serving in His temple.
This is the core principle of DUCC Gatekeepers.
We are asking you to honor God by serving in the Church.
Gatekeeper Defined: DUCC Gatekeepers are trusted spiritual stewards called by God to serve, edify, and safeguard this spiritual family.
Gatekeepers maintain their connection with God through prayer, use their God-given spiritual gifts to strengthen this spiritual family, advance the vision of DUCC to see revived lives active to glorify God, and finally protect the unity of Divine Unity Community Church. (Ephesians 4:3)
A healthy member of DUCC, is a Gatekeeper.
Attendees who visit DUCC may call this place ‘Home,’ but Members are Gatekeepers who know and make DUCC a home for everyone.
In alignment with our House Habit: “Participation is better than observation”, DUCC members do not sit on the sidelines.
The best way to join the DUCC Family is to become a Gatekeeper.
The Heart of a Gatekeeper requires diligent obedience to imitate the character of Christ, while in human flesh.
You will never out-serve your character.
Every Gatekeeper’s ability to serve effectively is determined primarily by their character.
Who you are, character and integrity-wise, is far more important than what you do.
To accomplish this, we must become T.H.E. (Transparent, Humble, Edifying) Gatekeeper.
1 Thessalonians 2:8-12 So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us. For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our conduct toward you believers. For you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.
